A GUIDE TO HOW TO BECOME A TRAINER

Courtesy of Standardbred Canada

In January of 2012 the Ontario Racing Commission announced new licensing requirements for apprentice trainers. The Canadian Guide for Standardbred Trainers is to be used as a reference for participants applying for the new Ontario Trainer Apprentice licence.
This manual has been produced with the cooperation of individuals from both Standardbred Canada and the Ontario Racing Commission. The objectives of the guide are to provide trainers and prospective trainers with the highest standards of professionalism and consistency while giving them a solid foundation in training practices and a formal set of procedures for the business of training.
